Arizona Wines

Every state in the union, including Alaska, now boasts its own vineyard and winery. Arizona has produced grapes and wine from as far back as the 1500's, during the days of the Jesuit Missions. The modern Arizona wine industry began here 30 years ago. Today, Arizona is home to more than 16 vineyards and wineries with 4 more in the planning stages.

2002 marked the turning point for our industry as Arizona's wines gained the attention and admiration of the wine world. Robert Parker, one of the world's leading wine authorities declared that an Arizona vineyard was, "One of the best kept secrets in the United States". Arizona's wine industry is no longer a secret, vineyards and wineries tours are up 50% and wines sales at vineyards/wineries are up 98% for the same period in 2001. The demand for our high quality wines is ever increasing, even with the current surplus of wines in the marketplace. While major producers in Europe, Australia, California and Washington are reeling from weak sales and lowered profits, the demand for Arizona Wines remains strong, increasing steadily over the past 6 months.

There has never been a better time to become involved in our expanding wine industry. Over the past 30 years Arizona's wine pioneers have given us a wealth of experience and a body of knowledge that has paved the way for others to flourish. The AWGA is committed to the growth of our industry by providing access to this expert knowledge and information to all its members.
